Mike Fickling, C.H.E.K Exercise
Coach - Holistic Lifestyle Coach I
After a few years of training Wing Chun
Kung Fu under the instruction of a Level 3 C.H.E.K Practitioner, Mike became
very interested in human movement and performance. Encouraged by his Wing Chun
instructor to learn more of the holistic approach to training and function,
Mike began personal training at his instructor's studio in 2003. In May of
2006, Mike partnered with David Drake, a Level 1 C.H.E.K Practitioner, and
opened Progressive Fitness, Charleston's premiere one-on-one holistic health
and performance studio. As a C.H.E.K Practitioner employing balanced,
holistic methods, Mike delivers individual goal-specific training, nutrition
and lifestyle coaching to empower clients of all abilities to reach and exceed
their health and fitness goals.
David Drake, C.H.E.K Practitioner Level
I - Holistic Lifestyle Coach I
David has been personal training since
1996, when he graduated from Furman University with a B.S. in Health and
Exercise Science. In 2000, David was named Charleston's best personal trainer
in the City Paper. As a C.H.E.K Practitioner (Corrective, Holistic, Exercise
Kinesiologist) and Holistic Lifestyle Coach, David strives to optimize the full
mental, physical, and chemical (nutrition) potential of each client. His focus
on holistic healing and wellness allows each client to explore and chose his or
her own unique path to attaining goals. David specializes in work and sports
related injuries. As co-owner of Progressive Fitness, David's vision is to
create a center where he can uplift health and exercise professionals by
promoting the holistic model.

Annie Banks
Annie Banks is a Yoga Alliance certified
instructor, National Academy of Sports Medicine certified Personal Trainer, and
C.H.E.K. Holistic Lifestyle Coach, Level I. She received her yoga training from
the Asheville Yoga Center in western North Carolina. In four-plus years of
teaching she has continued to develop her personal practice and has taught in a
number of conventional and unconventional settings, emphasizing the message
that yoga is for ALL! With the additional certifications in functional exercise
and holistic lifestyle coaching, Annie is enthusiastically integrating her
continuing education into her career. Annie is an excellent addition to the
Progressive Fitness team currently offering both individual fitness training
and private yoga sessions.
Scott Dawson
Scott graduated from The Southeastern
School of Massage in 2001. His training included Swedish massage and The St.
John method of Neuromuscular Therapy. After graduating massage school Scott was
trained in Thai massage and has had extensive experience in the spa industry.
In 2005 Scott attended the Unit I training at The Rolf Institute in Boulder,
Colorado and received certification in Skillful Touch (Connective Tissue
Release) from the Institute. In 2006 Scott also completed training at The
Institute of Structural Integration in Florida. He received an additional
certification in CTM (Connective Tissue Massage) from ISI. Most recently, Scott
received his certification as a Holistic Lifestyle Coach Level I from the
C.H.E.K Institute. Scott's primary focus is working to balance postural
distortions caused from traumatic injury or repetitive stress. Working with the
muscular system is beneficial however, work to release connective tissue
incorporated with neuromuscular techniques provides a great benefit to clients
in pain. Each client completes an intake form and Scott will discuss past
injuries and current pain patterns prior to any bodywork session. Scott can be

Jacob Poole, Holistic Lifestyle Coach I
After graduating from the University of South Carolina with a B.S. in Exercise Science, Jacob originally moved to Charleston with the intent to attend MUSC's Physical Therapy program. After a couple months he decided to take some time off and focus on guiding others in attaining their goals of optimal health and wellness through functional exercise, individualized nutrition, and lifestyle coaching. Jacob is certified as a Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine and through the C.H.E.K. Institute as a Holistic Lifestyle Coach I. With the support of the Progressive Fitness team, he is continually learning and improving to become a part of the best "gym" in Charleston.
Lindsay Barnard

After graduating from Wofford College in 2005, and continuing her education through National Academy of Sports Medicine, Lindsay began her career as a Certified Personal Trainer here in Charleston, SC in November of 2005. In December of 2005, Lindsay became certified as a Jump Stretch Resistance, Flexibility, & Strength Trainer.
Lindsay's passion for exercise, health, and wellness, her adoration for sports and the outdoors, and her affection for people have laid the groundwork for her success as a personal trainer. She strives to motivate, encourage, and equip her clients to achieve optimal success through the consideration of each individuals' specific lifestyle and goals.
